Brooklyn Hotel Founder Loses Trademark Bid in Bankruptcy Court

A founder of The Williamsburg Hotel in Brooklyn failed to convince a bankruptcy judge that she owns the trademarks to the hotel’s name and the slogan, “Sleep With A Local.”

96 Wythe Acquisition LLC, the hotel’s proprietor until 2023, owned the trademarks and passed them to Quadrum Development Corp. when the business was sold for $96 million, according to an opinion issued Wednesday in the US Bankruptcy Court of the Southern District of New York.
