Brazil’s Bombril Files for Bankruptcy Protection

Brazilian household goods manufacturer Bombril filed a request for protection from creditors in a local court, it said in a securities filing.

  • Company blamed relevant tax contingencies for the request
  • Brazil’s revenue service is charging Bombril or alleged failure to pay taxes on transactions involving the acquisition of foreign debt securities
    • Total aggregated amount involved is around 2.3 billion reais
