Brazil’s Alagoas Govt Says Damage Caused by Braskem Is Worrying

Government of Alagoas state issued a statement on the worsening of environmental disasters caused by Braskem in capital, amid negotiations over the sale of part of company to the Arab fund Adnoc.

  • According to the government, craters are expected to form in central neighborhoods of Alagoas capital at any time
  • Alagoas govt says it has already demonstrated existence of liabilities of around 30b reais for Braskem in the state
  • State govt is not opposed to the sale of the company, but its liabilities in Alagoas must first be solved, says the statement
