Pieces from the Boy Scouts of America’s art collection, including five paintings by Norman Rockwell, will be auctioned off this week for the benefit of a trust established through the organization’s bankruptcy to compensate sexually abused former scouts.
An initial set of 25 pieces from the organization’s collection of 321 original works is hitting the auction blocks on Nov. 15 in Dallas, with some Rockwell paintings already fetching bids north of $200,000. The most ever paid for a Rockwell painting at auction is about $46 million, according to Heritage Auctions, which is conducting the sales from the Boy Scouts’ collection. ...
