The Boy Scouts of America urged a federal judge to limit law firms’ ads aimed at sexual abuse survivors who may have potential claims against the organization, saying many contain false and misleading information about legal recovery.
More than 11,000 television spots have aired about bringing sexual abuse claims against Boy Scouts in the organization’s Chapter 11 case, the group said in a filing Tuesday. Many ads falsely state that claimants can file anonymously or are guaranteed compensation from a $1.5 billion pool of funds, it said.
