Boy Scouts of America’s court-approved restructuring plan plots a path for more than 82,000 sexual abuse victims to recover money for their injuries.

The plan approval, issued Sept. 8 by the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, marks a major milestone for one of the most high-profile and complex Chapter 11 cases in recent years, following two and a half years of proceedings. Among the issues the parties tussled over include victims’ claim legitimacy, insurers’ involvement and how the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ potential liability should be treated.
