Boies Schiller Loses Bid to Toss Guo Wengui Trustee Fee Suit (1)

Boies Schiller Flexner LLP failed to convince a judge to dismiss a lawsuit over nearly $654,000 in legal fees paid by detained Chinese businessman Guo Wengui that his bankruptcy trustee said were fraudulently transferred.

While the payment was ordered by a court, “transferors may attempt to use courts to ‘wash’ transfers of their fraudulent intent,” a Monday order from Judge Julie A. Manning of the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Connecticut said. The issue raises questions of fact that will be determined as the case continues, she added.
