BlockFi Seeks Bankruptcy Court Approval To Return Some Crypto

Bankrupt cryptocurrency lender BlockFi Inc. has asked for bankruptcy court permission to return some customer cryptocurrency held in its wallet accounts.

BlockFi and its affiliates don’t have an interest in the digital assets held in the accounts as of the time it paused withdrawals on Nov. 10, BlockFi said in a motion Monday to the New Jersey bankruptcy court.

BlockFi should be allowed to honor withdrawal requests because cryptocurrency held in those wallet accounts is client property, the filing said. The lender didn’t specify how much in wallet account assets it seeks to return.
