Metro Fuel Oil Corp. and nine of its affiliates filed for Chapter 11 protection Sept. 27 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York (In re Metro Fuel Oil Corp., Bankr. E.D.N.Y., Case No. 12-46913).
The Brooklyn, N.Y.-based company “is a family-owned energy company, founded in 1942, that supplies and delivers bioheat, biodiesel, heating oil, central air conditioning units, ultra low sulfur diesel fuel, natural gas and gasoline throughout the New York City metropolitan area and Long Island,” according to court documents.
