Bankruptcy Filings Rise at Growing Rate in First Quarter of 2025

Bankruptcy filings across all chapters grew by nearly 10% in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same period last year as economic pressures on consumers and businesses mount.

The Administrative Office of the US Courts released statistics Thursday showing a jump in total bankruptcy filings that continues a trend of quarterly increases since the middle of 2022.
