Bankrupt Yellow Settles Worker Layoff Lawsuits for $12 Million

Fallen trucking company Yellow Corp. settled claims with two classes of former employees who alleged it violated federal layoff notice requirements.

Yellow agreed to pay $3.5 million to class members who were part of the Coughlin v. Yellow case and $8.7 million to those who were part of the Moore v. Yellow case, according to motions filed separately in the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware on Feb. 28

The agreement comes after a trial regarding its compliance with the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, which requires employers to provide 60-day notices for layoffs. The deal requires ...
