Bankrupt Yellow Disputes $2 Billion US Pollution Cleanup Claim

Trucker Yellow Corp. urged a bankruptcy court to reject more than $2 billion in claims sought by the US government to clean up a contaminated New York City creek, saying there’s no evidence that it’s responsible for the pollution.

Claims by the US Environmental Protection Agency and other federal regulators to put Yellow on the hook for cleaning up Newtown Creek, a tributary of the East River on the border of Brooklyn and Queens, should be denied or dramatically reduced, the company told the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.
