Bankrupt Long Island Diocese’s $320 Million Plan Approved (2)

A bankrupt Long Island Catholic diocese received court approval for a bankruptcy plan that settles sex abuse litigation for more than $320 million, a significant milestone for the eighth largest Catholic diocese in the country.

Judge Martin Glenn of the US Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York signed off on the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rockville Centre’s Chapter 11 reorganization plan at a hearing Wednesday. The ruling comes roughly four years after the diocese first filed for bankruptcy.
