A judge rejected junior creditors’ motion to dismiss bankrupt talc supplier Barretts Minerals Inc.'s Chapter 11 case and indicated that he will seek answers about whether the company’s talc contained asbestos.
Judge Marvin Isgur of the US Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas said during a Tuesday hearing that he’ll issue his complete findings on his decision to keep the case alive in the next 21 days. Barretts filed for bankruptcy in October 2023 to resolve asbestos liability related to talc production.
