Bankrupt 23andMe Seeks to Halt Canadian Data-Breach Lawsuits

Fallen DNA testing company 23andMe asked a US bankruptcy court to block two Canadian class actions over a cybersecurity breach, arguing the cases could disrupt its restructuring efforts and planned asset sale.

The Canadian lawsuits, which mirror ongoing US litigation, go further than the US cases by including claims against 23andMe’s current and former directors, officers, employees, and auditor KPMG LLP, according to a complaint filed Monday in the US Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Missouri.
