Bank of America Wins Dismissal of Wrongful Account-Closure Suit

A federal judge in Washington dismissed a lawsuit by a former Bank of America customer who said the bank had no right to close his account and insisted on learning why it happened (Doe v. Bank of Am. Corp., D.D.C., 16-cv-00253, 8/11/17).

The plaintiff, who sued under the “John Doe” pseudonym, was identified only as an American citizen and a resident of Florida. He sued after Bank of America closed his account and the account of his daughter, even though Doe had a 34-year personal banking relationship with Bank of America.
