Baltimore Orioles Sell Minority Stake to Investor Mark Ein (1)

Investor Mark Ein has expanded his portfolio of sports investments by acquiring a minority stake in Major League Baseball’s Baltimore Orioles, the team confirmed on Thursday.

The size of Ein’s stake wasn’t disclosed.

“I am thrilled to be part of the historic Orioles franchise, the team I cheered for as a young boy growing up in Maryland,” Ein said in a statement.

The Baltimore Orioles are controlled by an ownership group led by Carlyle Group co-founder David Rubenstein. When the club was acquired in a deal last year, the Orioles were valued at $1.7 billion.
