The bankrupt Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany has reached a $148 million settlement to compensate hundreds of victims of child sexual abuse by church clergy and staff.

The settlement between the Albany diocese, its parishes, other affiliates, and a committee of abuse victims comes about three years after the Catholic institution filed for Chapter 11 under the weight of more than 400 child sex abuse claims.
