Akin Gump Lawyer Beckerman Appointed as N.Y. Bankruptcy Judge

Lisa Beckerman, a financial restructuring partner at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, was appointed as a bankruptcy judge for the Southern District of New York.

• Beckerman, a three-decade veteran of restructuring and bankruptcy, will be sworn in on Feb. 26
• She joined Akin Gump in 1999, working on both Chapter 11 cases and out-of-court restructurings across industries including manufacturing, airlines, media, energy and real estate
  • Her recent work includes involvement in the bankruptcies of Sanchez Energy and FirstEnergy Solutions Corp.
