Abuse Victims Sue Bankruptcy Service After Identities Divulged

Sex abuse survivors involved in the bankruptcy of a Connecticut-based Catholic diocese are seeking damages from a legal services firm that they say publicly disclosed their identities.

Epiq Corporate Restructuring, in its role servicing the Norwich Roman Catholic Diocesan Corp.'s bankruptcy, briefly disclosed the names and addresses of survivors in a public bankruptcy court filing earlier this month, the survivors said in a putative class action complaint filed Wednesday. The survivors, who have been negotiating with the diocese on a potential settlement of their abuse claims, seek $42 million in damages from Epiq.
