23andMe Says California Data Breach Suit Violates Bankruptcy Plan

The bankruptcy plan administrator for the company once known as 23andMe urged a court to halt the state of California’s lawsuit over the handling of a 2023 data breach.

The state’s claims related to a breach that exposed the personal information of nearly 7 million users are essentially identical to those already pending in the bankruptcy court through previously filed proofs of claim, the company said in a May 31 motion in the US Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Missouri.
