A bankruptcy judge approved a US class settlement, and related attorneys’ fees, with former customers of DNA testing firm 23andMe whose data was exposed in a breach.
Judge Brian C. Walsh of the US Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Missouri signed off on the deal—preliminarily approved last year—during a Wednesday hearing. He said he will grant the motion subject to an opt-out period for certain class members who weren’t given notice of the settlement until early January.
Walsh rejected a proposal by class members to extend the new deadline to all members.
