21st Century Oncology Files for Bankruptcy in New York

Cancer-care provider 21st Century Oncology Inc. and affiliates filed for bankruptcy protection in New York after months of restructuring talks with creditors.

The company listed estimated liabilities of more than $1 billion in Chapter 11 papers filed Thursday in White Plains.

Fort Myers, Florida-based 21st Century, owned by private equity firm Vestar Capital Partners Inc., ranks as the largest freestanding oncology provider in the U.S. with about 180 radiation treatment facilities, according to a Moody’s Investors Service report.
