Warren Says Musk Wants to ‘Fire’ CFPB To Help X Payments Effort

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) accused billionaire Elon Musk of trying to dismantle the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau in order to eliminate any roadblocks in turning his social network X into a payments platform.

“The CFPB is there to make sure Elon’s new project can’t scam you or steal your sensitive personal data,” Warren said Monday while speaking at a rally outside the agency’s Washington headquarters. “So Elon’s solution: Get rid of the cops. Kill the CFPB.”
