Wall Street Agitator to Lead Blue State Consumer Protection Bid

A group of Democratic state prosecutors seeking to address rising living costs and widespread fraud hired Rohit Chopra, former director of the US Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, to lead the effort.

Chopra, who frequently clashed with banks before his dismissal from the CFPB in February, will lead the Consumer Protection and Affordability Working Group, the organization’s policy arm announced Tuesday. He will oversee a team of researchers and policymakers charged with making recommendations for how prosecutors can curb abusive practices by lenders and other companies in their states.
