Virus Sparks Stimulus Grousing, State and Federal Agency Shifts

Congress continues to battle over a coronavirus rescue package as state and federal energy and environmental regulators ease compliance requirements in response to the pandemic.

  • A summary of a draft version of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.)'s proposed stimulus called for $7.2 million for the EPA, with $3 million to reduce the risk of environmental transmission of coronavirus, and $4.2 million for protecting the agency workforce from the disease’s spread. It also called for $70.6 million for the Forest Service, $32 million for the Bureau of Land Management, and $29 million for the Fish and Wildlife Service.
