A U.K. review of its landmark post-2008 banking regulation will examine how “ring-fencing” will impact post-Brexit London bankers’ ability to compete globally -- and whether it distorted the mortgage market.

The U.K. Treasury said Wednesday that a panel of prominent financiers will “examine any unintended consequences of the ring-fencing legislation and consider any areas that may require further clarification.” It will also consider whether curbs on riskier trading practices have helped financial stability.
