Turkey’s Erdogan Says Halkbank US Case to End After Trump Talks

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said state lender Halkbank’s legal case in the US is due to be resolved following recent talks with President Donald Trump, prompting bank shares to rise.

Trump said “the Halkbank problem is finished for us” in both a recent White House meeting and a phone call, Erdogan told reporters. “This is an important expression of political will, and very valuable for us,” he said, adding that the process of wrapping up the matter still needs to be completed.
