Trump Taps Travis Hill as Acting FDIC Chair

President Donald Trump picked Travis Hill to serve as the acting head of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., according to a statement.

Hill, a Republican, served as FDIC vice chairman. He criticized some of the proposals championed by former FDIC head Martin Gruenberg, who departed the agency on Jan. 19.

The FDIC has been under intense scrutiny for more than a year following allegations of widespread harassment and discrimination. Gruenberg had faced mounting pressure to resign after a report by an outside law firm questioned whether he was the right person to fix the toxic culture.
