Trump Says He Doesn’t Care If Powell Remains on Fed Board

President Donald Trump said he did not care if the Federal Reserve’s Jay Powell remained as a governor after his tenure as the central bank’s chair ends.

“No, I don’t care if he stays on,” Trump told reporters at the White House on Thursday when asked if he was prepared to take any action over the Fed chair’s decision to remain on the board.

“I just wanted to make sure that Kevin became the head,” he continued, referencing his pick to succeed Powell as chairman, Kevin Warsh.
