Tillis Praises Warsh After Meeting, Yet Won’t Lift Fed Blockade

Kevin Warsh, President Donald Trump’s pick for Federal Reserve chair, drew praise from a key Republican senator currently blocking his confirmation, but ended a meeting with him without securing a clear pathway forward for his own nomination.

Senator Thom Tillis called it a “good meeting” but reiterated his intention to block any Fed nominations moving through the Senate Banking Committee until the Department of Justice finishes its investigation into Fed Chair Jerome Powell over his testimony to the panel last year over renovations to the Fed’s offices.
