Senators Question CFPB Vetting Process Amid Racism Uproar (1)

Senate Democrats are demanding to know how the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau vetted political appointees after the revelation that an official overseeing fair lending and enforcement wrote racist blog posts more than a decade ago.

The Oct. 3 letter follows a Washington Post report last week detailing postings by Eric Blankenstein, the Mick Mulvaney-appointed CFPB policy associate director overseeing the bureau’s Supervision, Enforcement, and Fair Lending Division.
