Sabadell CEO Says Bank Exploring Nexi Deal on New Terms

Banco Sabadell SA and Italian payments provider Nexi SpA are exploring an agreement on new terms after their previous deal was put on hold during the takeover bid made by BBVA SA for its Spanish rival.

Sabadell Chief Executive Officer Cesar Gonzalez-Bueno said during an earnings call Thursday that there is no “obligation” to keep the 2023 agreement, when Nexi agreed to buy 80% of Sabadell’s payment unit for €280 million ($326 million). The deal was suspended after BBVA’s bid in May last year which ultimately collapsed last month.
