Rodge Cohen Says Capital Requirement Changes Won’t Cause Chaos

An increase of capital requirements for US banks wouldn’t trigger additional turmoil in financial services following a tumultuous period for regional lenders, according to attorney H. Rodgin “Rodge” Cohen, Sullivan & Cromwell senior chairman.

“I just don’t see the correlation between March and April and the increase of capital requirements,” Cohen said Thursday on Bloomberg TV. Lending, however, is at risk.

“You either raise more capital, or you reduce the size of your balance sheet,” he said.
