Rocket Mortgage Loses Bid to Shake DOJ Appraisal Bias Case (3)

A unit of mortgage giant Rocket Cos. will have to face Biden-era federal claims that it discriminated against a Black Denver homeowner on her refinance application.

Rocket Mortgage LLC and appraisal management company Solidifi US Inc. failed to show that they were barred from addressing complaints from Francesca Cheroutes alleging an appraiser they contracted with undervalued her Denver home by more than $200,000 because she is Black, Judge Gordon P. Gallagher of the US District Court for the District of Colorado ruled Sept. 12.
