A judge declared PayPal Holdings, Inc. in civil contempt for failing to transfer funds from a digital wallet to the trustee overseeing the Body Shop’s US bankruptcy proceeding.
Judge David S. Jones of the US Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York on Wednesday mandated PayPal to transfer over $128,000 it failed to send following an October court order, which required the turnover within five business days. The Chapter 7 trustee in charge of liquidating the cosmetics retailer’s US operations had been requesting the funds since last April.
