OCC Hires Senate Banking Counsel for Top Attorney Spot

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency has landed a senior Senate Banking Committee staffer as its new chief counsel.

Jonathan Gould, chief counsel on the committee, will take on the top attorney spot at the national bank regulator.

Gould brings experience from both the highs and lows of the banking cycle to the job. He served as deputy general counsel at Promontory Financial Group beginning in 2008, during the first several years of the last financial recession, followed by a stint at BlackRock Inc. beginning in 2014.
