NEC’s Hassett Says He’s Tough Enough to Win Arguments at the Fed

National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett, a front-runner to become the next Federal Reserve chair, rejected concerns that he would lack the ability to swing other central bankers behind his views should he get the job.

“I am tough enough to win an argument,” Hassett said in an interview on Fox Business Thursday. “Anybody who’s come to this White House and taken every question you could get for five years — which is what I’ve done — is tough enough to go into a hostile room and help people understand why they’re right or they’re wrong.”
