Lender Accused of Scamming Uber, Lyft Drivers Settles With CFPB

A Miami-based lender agreed to pay $1.1 million to settle CFPB claims that the company made false statements about small-dollar loans and other financial services offered to Uber and Lyft drivers.

Driver Loan LLC and its chief executive, Angelo Jose Sarjeant, will refund $1 million to customers and pay a $100,000 civil money penalty in a settlement the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.

Counsel for Driver loan and Sarjeant didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
