A Kansas bank plans to appeal a ruling that allowed a proposed $20.4 million administrative judgment from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. to move forward.
CBW Bank filed a notice of appeal March 28 in the US District Court for the District of Kansas seeking to overturn Judge Daniel Crabtree’s March 3 ruling that he has no authority to stop the administrative proceeding.
The FDIC claims that Weir, Kan.-based CBW ran a multibillion-dollar international money-transmitting business without adequate anti-money laundering and counterterrorism protections in place.
