JPMorgan Unlikely to Get Quick Win on Tesla Warrants, Judge Says

JPMorgan Chase & Co. is unlikely to win a $162 million claim against Tesla Inc. right away, a judge in New York told lawyers for the bank.

The bank is seeking the money as damages in a suit over warrants it repriced after Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted in 2018 about taking the carmaker private.

U.S. District Judge Paul Gardephe on Wednesday said JPMorgan’s anticipated motion for a judgment in its favor ahead of discovery is “not likely to be successful.” Gardephe stressed that he was giving his impression not ruling on the matter.
