JP Morgan Stops Whistleblower’s Foreclosure Fraud Claims

JP Morgan Chase Bank NA defeated a whistleblower’s False Claims Act suit alleging a fraudulent scheme under which the bank submitted forged mortgage notes to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to unlawfully foreclose on homes, a Florida federal court said.

Whistleblower Bruce Jacobs’ complaint didn’t identify false claims with sufficient particularity, Judge Aileen M. Cannon of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida said Wednesday.

The complaint didn’t include “nearly enough facts as to time, place, and substance to alert defendants as to the precise misconduct with which they are charged,” the court said.
