Jane Street Group LLC, a giant of exchange-traded funds, is muscling in on a fast-growing bond-market opportunity that Goldman Sachs Group Inc. first exploited in 2016.

The firm is capitalizing on its position as one of the biggest traders of fixed-income ETFs to profit from the explosive growth of so-called credit-portfolio trades, which allow investors to buy or sell large numbers of bonds all at once.
