IRS Updates Online FATCA Registration System, User Guide

The online system foreign financial institutions use to register to comply with the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act has been updated, the IRS said.

In addition, the Internal Revenue Service said Oct. 6 it has revised the FATCA registration online user guide.

With respect to changes to the registration system, the IRS said it expanded the number of characters allowed for a financial institution’s legal name from 40 characters to 150 characters. The legal name field can now accept brackets, curly brackets and parentheses.
