The Internal Revenue Service continues to cede billions of dollars in payments to taxpayers that should not have been made or that were made in an incorrect amount, according to the agency watchdog.
“The IRS has made little progress to reduce the improper payments associated with the refundable credit programs it administers,” the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration said in a report released Monday.
