ING Is Said to Seek US Banking License to Boost Dollar Access

ING Groep NV is exploring the possibility of acquiring a US banking license, a move that could bolster its access to dollar liquidity in exchange for greater supervision by US regulators.

The largest bank in the Netherlands is assembling a team to engage with Federal Reserve officials, according to people familiar with the matter, who asked for anonymity to discuss the private information. A banking license could allow ING to accept US corporate deposits as well as potentially give it access to a range of Fed liquidity facilities, the people said.
