IEX Wins SEC Approval for New Venue Looking to Upend Options (1)

IEX Group Inc. got permission from US regulators to open an options exchange that would offer an alternative to the way trades now get priced in the booming derivatives market.

The Securities and Exchange Commission approved IEX’s application to operate a new options venue that would offer a unique way to slow down options trading, according to a regulatory filing Thursday. IEX Options will operate as an electronic exchange without a physical trading floor.
