Huntington Strikes Deal for Janney Montgomery M&A, Trading Units

Huntington Bancshares Inc., a regional bank bulking up through acquisitions, has agreed to buy certain units of KKR & Co.-owned Janney Montgomery Scott to strengthen its capital-markets operations, according to people with knowledge of the matter.

The Columbus, Ohio-based lender will acquire Janney’s mergers and acquisitions advisory business through subsidiary Capstone Partners, said the people, who asked to not be identified because the details aren’t public. Huntington will also acquire Janney’s public-finance group as well as its fixed-income sales and trading business, which would be folded into Huntington Securities, the people said.
