House Republicans vowed vigorous oversight over the CFPB’s policy-making, enforcement, and even the agency director’s schedule when they take the gavel in January.
Rohit Chopra, director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, can “look forward to a few more of these invitations next year,” Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.) said at a House Financial Services Committee hearing Wednesday.
McHenry, who is set to take over as the committee chairman in January, chided Chopra for the CFPB’s “lack of transparency,” citing single-page answers to ten letters committee Republicans sent to them.
