Homeless Advocates Sue HUD Over New Funding Restrictions (Correct)

Two organizations that provide homeless services filed a lawsuit against the US Department of Housing and Urban Development and its leader, HUD Secretary Scott Turner, over a Sept. 5 funding notice that they say reneges on grants for permanent supportive housing in order to tie funding to the Trump administration’s ideological priorities.

The lawsuit maintains that service providers in states that are experiencing the most severe housing problems are being shut out from competing for millions of construction dollars because those states don’t conform with President Donald Trump’s agenda on issues like immigration enforcement and treatment for transgender residents.
